Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich has lost his title of owning the world’s biggest yacht to the Emirati Royal Family.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Abu Dhabi, has bought the 180 metres Azzam which is 16.5 metres bigger than Abramovich’s Eclipse.

Yachts France magazine’s annual survey of the world’s 100 biggest yachts estimates that Azzam costs between $400m (£200m) and $600m.

The magazine reports that the floating palace-yacht features six bridges and a 550-square-meter lounge designed in a lavish Empire style.

Abramovich’s boat, on the other hand, comes with two helipads, two swimming pools, a disco and a mini-submarine.

James Dyson’s yacht Nahlin came 36th on the list, making it the biggest British-owned yacht.

The Emiratis snapped up 31 spots on the list with Russians and Americans taking up 19 and 17 places respectively.
