Riot police have raided a building in Soho after anti-capitalist demonstrators threatened to protest ahead of next week’s G8 summit in Northern Ireland.
Freelance photographer George Henton, who was at the scene, tweeted photos of policemen evacuating a building that is believed to be a squat.
As part of the “Carnival against Capitalism” campaign, protestors have published a map of global banks and hedge funds and have threatened to target 100 addresses of “power and tyranny”.
Londoners working in the vicinity have tweeted that they’re “locked in” offices because of rioters in the area. A lot of helicopters were seen flying overhead in the West End and over 100 policemen were deployed in Soho.
Locked into work, literally. G8 Protesters outside targeting Golden Square.
