The Liontrust Global Fixed Income investment team has recruited Sharmin Rahman and Emma Veitch to work with the Co-Heads Phil Milburn and Donald Phillips. Sharmin and Emma will add significant credit resource to the team, bringing further experience and knowledge; with the combined team having over 65 years of investment experience.
With Emma having joined on 12 July and following Sharmin’s arrival on 1 August, Phil will be focusing on the macroeconomic drivers of the investment process. Donald, Sharmin and Emma will be using their insights to add value in credit selection.
Phil and Donald are the Co-Managers of the Liontrust Strategic Bond funds, GF High Yield Bond Fund and GF Absolute Return Bond Fund. Sharmin will become Deputy Manager of the GF High Yield Bond Fund, subject to regulatory approval.
Sharmin is joining from AXA Investment Managers where she has been a Senior Portfolio Manager and Analyst in the European High Yield team since July 2012, having 14 years’ experience in total. Sharmin has assisted with the management of portfolios with more than €2 billion in assets.
Emma returned to the fund management industry at the start of 2022 after a career break to raise her family and work in volunteer roles. Emma’s previous role in asset management was as Senior Investment Analyst of UK companies at Aegon Asset Management from October 1993 to July 2000. Her volunteer roles included being Orchestra Manager of the Edinburgh Symphony Orchestra.

There will be no change to the Liontrust Global Fixed Income investment process or how any of the funds are managed following the addition of Sharmin and Emma to the team.
