Nigel Farage made headlines last year when a private bank shut his account.

Farage obtained a report from the bank which indicated his political views were considered as a factor in his Coutts account closure.

The row escalated and led to Dame Alison Rose, chief executive of NatWest Group, quitting after saying she had made a “serious error of judgment” in speaking to a BBC journalist about Farage’s Coutts account.

Farage’s wealth came into sharper focus this year, thanks to his political empire. So how rich is Nigel Farage? Read on to find out:

Net worth

Farage is known to be worth £3.2million.

Farage is a property millionaire. The former Brexit Party leader lives in Downe, within the London Borough of Bromley. He reportedly lives in a family home in this charming village, which is nestled amidst countryside where houses cost over £600,000.

In December, he reportedly bought a four-bed property in Lydd-on-Sea for half a million pounds.

I’m a Celebrity appearance

Farage finished third in the reality TV show I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here and got paid £1.5 million to appear on the show where he battled snakes among other tasks.

In the final episode he joked: “I’m now a remainer – a camp remainer that is. I’m absolutely thrilled to be one of the last three.”

Asked why he took part in the show this year, having been asked before, he said: “I had time to do it and I’m 60 next birthday and going to reach an age where you can’t do it.

“This is very physical, bringing buckets of water, doing the challenges, so now was the right time to do it and I’m very pleased I did. I did my best to show no fear at all in the challenges.”

Media appearances

Farage earned around $1million (£802k) from media appearances, largely on Fox News, between 2014 and 2018.

He also hosted The Nigel Farage Show on LBC from 2017 until 2020, and has fronted a show on GB News since June 2021.

Salary as an MEP

Farage has received a salary since 1999 as an MEP, making him five figures every year. According to public records, the monthly pre-tax salary of an MEP was €8,757.70 (£7,811.04) as of July 2018, but was reduced to €6,824.85 (£6,086.08) after EU tax and insurance contributions were made.
