The former First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond has been acquitted of all 13 sexual assault charges on Monday afternoon.

Leaving court Salmond said he has been through a “nightmare” and thanked his friends, family and legal team for “standing by me over the last two years.”

He warned, “Whatever nightmare I’ve been in over the last two years it is nothing compared to the nightmare that every single one of us is currently living through.

“People are dying, many more are going to do so.”

He told the press outside the court to “go home, those who can, take care of your families and god help us all.”
