The Chancellor has been told that she has “lost control” of the economy taxpayers are being warned to expect a “cruel summer.”

The Shadow Chancellor Mel Stride has said that Rachel Reeves spending review is “not worth the paper it is written on,” in a damning verdict.

The Chancellor rumbled on for 45 minutes in the House of Commons on Wednesday claiming her spending review will provide “economic growth.”

Reeves said, This is a spending review to deliver the priorities of the British people.

“Security, a strong Britain, in a changing world. Economic growth, powered by investment and opportunity in every part of Britain. And our nation’s health, with an NHS, fit for the future.

“I have made my choices. In place of chaos, I choose stability. In place of decline, I choose investment. In place of pessimism, division and defeatism…I choose national renewal.

“These are my choices. These are Labour’s choices. These are the choices of the British people.”

The Shadow Chancellor hit back telling MPs, “This spending review is not worth the paper that it is written on because the Chancellor has completely lost control.

This is the spend now, tax later review because the Chancellor knows that she will need to come back here in the autumn with yet more taxes and a cruel summer of speculation awaits.

He added that the Labour Party has “trashed the economy.”
