112 pit-stops ranked on the basis of toilet facilities, food and staff friendlines
England’s best motorway service stations have been unveiled after a comprehensive survey, which has also named and shamed the worst services across Britain.
Based on the votes, Reading westbound services on the M4 has been ranked as country’s best while Heston Services Eastbound scored the lowest customer satisfaction rating, the survey revealed today.
The west London site will be 50-years-old next year and is the final stop for motorists driving to the capital on the M4. Meanwhile, Heston has been receiving major flak from visitors on Google reviews as well.

One of the reviewers described Heston station as “dirty, old and tired”, while another called it the “worst motorway services I’ve ever been to”.
Reading westbound services on the M4 got a 100 per cent satisfaction rating along with Rivington Services Northbound on the M6, the survey revealed.
Tim Moss from Moto said he was delighted that Reading West has come up on top but was also disappointed by the ranking of Heston East: ‘At the other end of the scale, we’re disappointed that the visit to Heston East was done in the middle of building works, although we recognise that in this instance we haven’t done as well as we should have done.”
Independent watchdog, Transport Focus, had reportedly surveyed 8,700 visitors who have visited all 112 motorway services in Britain in the last year and had asked them to rate the services on the basis of toilet facilities, food available and the friendliness of the staff.
So next time nature calls or your car is running out of fuel on the motorway, keep the lists in mind before you make a stopover.
