More than 1,000 jobs are at risk as the Office Outlet has gone into administration, the company was formerly known as Staples.

The retailer is not connected to the online only company that currently trades under the name of Staples.

Office Outlet’s website says in a notice that, partners Daniel Butters and Richard Hawes at Deloitte have been appointed joint administrators on Monday.

Last August the company launched a plan to shutter a few stores into a company voluntary arrangement (CVA). The deal included three years of free rent across 20 of their sites.

The move failed and the business has faltered on rent across its estate of 90 stores.
