YouTube star Jamal Edwards, founder of SBTV which helped launch the careers of  Ed Sheeran and Skepta, has died at the age of 31.

Edwards was also a director, author, DJ, entrepreneur and designer, and was awarded an MBE in 2014 – when he was 24 – for his work in music.

Rapper Dave simply tweeted: “Thank you for everything🙏🏿❤️ words can’t explain,” while actor and director Adam Deacon posted that he was “honestly heartbroken”.

“Jamal was one of the nicest, most down to earth and humble men I’ve met in this industry,” he said. “He always gave me time even when no-one else would.”

In an interview with LLB in 2012, Edwards said:  “I’m here to chase my dreams, not competition. I’m here to do my thing man, I don’t look at anyone else.”
