London hotels have dominated a list detailing the best business venues in the UK at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Fourteen of the top 15 business hotels in the UK can be found in London, according to the results of the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Awards 2011.

The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park was voted as the best business hotel in the country, scoring highly for its food and restaurant facilities, as well as its prime location.

General manager of the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, Anthony McHale, said: “We are very pleased to be recognised for the dedicated services we have created for our business travellers, particularly our increasingly popular VIP Red Fan Programme.”

The hotel beat off competition from the InterContinental London Park Lane, which finished second and scored highly for its conference facilities and business services.

It was followed by The Dorchester, which was praised for the service its staff offer, while Claridge’s and the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane were also voted in the top five business hotels in the country.

London & Partners CEO Gordon Innes said: “I am delighted that London has been recognised as the UK’s best city by the discerning readers of Condé Nast Traveller.

There is so much on offer in the capital from great restaurants and attractions to arts and culture and accommodation. For business travellers, the choice of accommodation is endless and it is an honour for the city to have so many London hotels recognised in the awards”

London venues have also been voted among the 20 best leisure hotels in the UK. Claridge’s, The Soho Hotel, The Goring, Charlotte Street Hotel and Covent Garden Hotel all found favour with the readers of Condé Nast Traveller.

Meanwhile, British Airways was named as the top business and short-haul airline. It was praised for its food and catering on business trips, as well as its comfortable lounge facilities both pre- and post-flight. Cathay Pacific and Emirates were also among the favourite airlines of business travellers.

London’s Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 was voted the second-best airport facility in the world, behind Hong Kong International, and received special praise for its cleanliness. London City Airport was also named among the top 15 airports in the world.
