If you’re lucky enough to visit Dubai on business, or even on holiday, there’s one experience you really shouldn’t miss – and we’re not talking about the shopping opportunities. Dubai is fortunate to have almost 1,000 km of coastline with white sandy beaches and a sea that is like stepping into a relaxing, warm bath.
But, for the ultimate in beachside experiences, go for one of the many private beaches where you’ll also have the chance to float away your stresses in a temperature-controlled pool and enjoy ever-attentive service to cater to your every need. There are many to choose from, but here are four of the very best.
Summersalt Beach Club
Let’s start with one of the most scenic and exclusive private beaches in Dubai. Summersalt Beach Club is located in the resort area of Jumeirah Al Naseem and boasts an amazing view of the iconic Burj Al Arab and its dhow-like profile. It’s adults-only which adds to the peaceful atmosphere and there’s a DJ-curated soundtrack playing in the background to add to the beachside vibes. With a choice of restaurants with cuisines from around the world and a resident mixologist, it’s great for eating and drinking too.

For many people, their abiding image of Dubai is as the place with world’s largest man-made island that also happens to be in the shape of a palm tree. As you’d expect, it’s also been created to include some of the very best private beaches too including this fine example. Make sure to get there early though as it soon fills up during the day. Alternatively, the Bayut area guide shows us that many villas on the island boast their own private beaches. If you’re considering relocating to Dubai, there’s everything from studios to multiple-bed villas in Palm Jumeirah, so you can be sure to be catered for here.
Zero Gravity
This is a private beach and major music venue rolled into one – performers in the past have included Fatboy Slim, Sigala and Roger Sanchez. It’s also a magnet for celebrities with confirmed sightings of both Lindsey Lohan and Justin Bieber in the past. You can chill out on a day bed or in a cabana by the pool or head for the sandy beach to set up your own “Killa Grilla” barbecue on the beach. Plus, it’s right next to the Dubai Skydive Drop Zone so you’ll have the perfect vantage point to watch the intrepid ones come down to earth.
Banan Beach
Just 20 minutes’ drive from Dubai Marina in Jebel Ali, this is a beach experience with a difference. That’s because you can also camp for the night in one of the vividly-coloured tents that overlook the Arabian Gulf after enjoying a blissful day of campfires, yoga and total serenity. You don’t have to stay though. Daytime visitors are made to feel just as welcome – and will leave just as relaxed.
So there you have them, four great places to pick up a tan in Dubai. So don’t forget to pack the factor 50 next time you visit.
