Alex Salmond, the ex SNP leader has been arrested and charged Thursday morning.
He will appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday afternoon.
Salmond, who was first minister for the SNP from 2007 to 2014, has been under investigation following allegations by two members of staff of sexual misconduct whilst he was in office.
A police spokesperson said, “We can confirm a 64-year-old man has been arrested and charged and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.”
