Aldi saw record Christmas sales as they jumped by 26% in December to £1.4 billion for the first time in UK and Ireland.
Aldi also recorded nearly 30% rise in chilled deserts but cheese sales dipped by 50% and snacks were up by more than 40%.
Giles Hurley, chief executive officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, said, “This year, Christmas was all about family and football as people came together to celebrate in a way we’ve not enjoyed for years.
