Carphone Warehouse is challenging the nation to get selfie ready in just 15 minutes

Carphone Warehouse is challenging selfie kings and queens to #BeatThePixel, in its new monthly competition. Could London be home to selfie royalty?

The smartphone retailer is asking people to get themselves “selfie ready” in less than 15 minutes, the time it takes for the new Google Pixel to provide enough charge for up to seven hours use.

Carphone Warehouse, one of the UK’s leading mobile phone retailers, surveyed 1,006 people to find out about their selfie-taking habits, and found that Brits take their selfie preparation very seriously, with more than a third (37 per cent) trying out multiple angles before taking a selfie, a quarter (24 per cent) altering the lighting and nearly a third (32 per cent) opting to wash their hair before turning on the front camera.

People can enter the competition via http://lowdown.carphonewarehouse.com/beat-the-pixel-competition/, with the overall winner awarded £100 worth of vouchers from their chosen beauty brand.

A spokesperson at Carphone Warehouse, said: “The selfie generation might pride themselves on taking the perfect picture, but we want to see how long it actually takes them to get ready for it – and any calamities that happen in the process.

“Rushing to beat the Google Pixel might end up with some interesting selfies at the end, so we’re looking forward to seeing all the entries. Good luck everyone!”
