The International Monetary Fund is set to announce that the UK is growing faster than any other major economy, according to reports from last night.
The IMF was widely tipped yesterday to upgrade the UK growth forecast, but its expected upgrade from 1.9% to 2.4% will edge it ahead of all other major economies, Sky News reports.
There is some irony that last year the IMF criticised Osborne’s policies as “playing with fire”.
The news comes after the cheering news last week that the whole world economy is forecast to grow steadily this year.
Global GDP is expected to grow 3.2% this year, with high-income countries such as the UK growing 2.2%.
