Major London Tube station evacuated over fire alert with public told to stay away

On Tuesday morning Bank Tube station was evacuated after a fire alert with images on social media showing London Fire Brigade in attendance.

A Twitter user wrote, “What a way to start the morning.

“Evacuated out of Bank underground.

“Smell of smoke in the station. Loads of blue lights.”

Whilst Alex Haynes tweeted a comment which reads, “Bank Station evacuated due to a fire.”

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said: “Firefighters were called to a fire alert at Bank Underground Station this morning.

“On investigation, crews located a smell of burning in the escalator motor room, which was ventilated.

“Firefighters are now leaving the scene.”
