Northern Gas and Power (NGP), part of Global Procurement Group (GPG), has appointed Latif Faiyaz as Head of Flexible Purchasing and Energy Strategy, a newly created position which aims to expand and evolve NGP’s energy strategy as the company continues to grow, supporting its clients on the path to a net-zero carbon future.

Latif has over 10 years’ experience in energy trading and services, including the development of carbon projects, international carbon trade and integrating energy services into supply contracts. He has previously worked at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation, LG Energy Group and Engie.

Flexible purchasing offers consumers the opportunity to take advantage of market volatility. Rather than fixing prices on one day, flexible purchasing allows businesses to take opportunities in market movements, whilst protecting their budget against any market upswings.

Latif’s new role is to manage the risk of a customer’s portfolio. This requires the development of a full energy strategy, long term budget planning and management of evolving forecasted consumption in periods of on-going instability.

This comes at a time of rapid expansion for NPG and its parent group GPG, which has seen its revenue grow 40% per annum from 2017 to 2020. The company has a projected revenue in excess of £85m for 2021.

Latif is one of many new employees amidst NGP’s recruitment drive for 2021 and the flexible energy strategy team has plans to grow to accommodate future demand.

This is ahead of the new UK headquarter move this summer to the waterside Riga building, located on Gateshead’s Quays. NGP will occupy 30,000 square feet, over four floors, as it continues to grow.

Commenting on his new role, Latif Faiyaz said: “I joined NGP due to its ambition and relentless drive to be the largest energy consultancy not just in the UK, but globally. Coupled with my 10 years of experience in energy trading and services, I’m delighted to be able to create a flexible, market leading offering to our customers, giving them real competitive advantage and enabling them to sustainably grow.”

Geoff Moses, Northern Gas and Power Director, added: “We are hugely excited to have Latif Faiyaz on board, given his expertise across the energy sector. He is set to be a great asset to the GPG team as we continue our global growth across three continents, and one of many talented executives we plan to hire as our recruitment drive ramps up over the coming months.”
