Just hours after a man was arrested for crashing his car into the security barriers outside the Parliament today morning, Scotland Yard has now said that the driver of the car is in his 20s and has been arrested on suspicion of terrorist offences.
The driver, described as being black, was seen pulled from the smoking silver vehicle by around a dozen armed officers who had their rifles trained on him following the rush hour smash.
A number of cyclists and pedestrians have been injured in the incident. The Met Police had earlier tweeted:
At 0737hrs today, a car was in collision with barriers outside the Houses of Parliament. The male driver of the car was detained by officers at the scene. A number of pedestrians have been injured. Officers remain at the scene. We will issue further info when we have it.
