Budget airline, EasyJet

Budget airline EasyJet will become the first UK airline to introduce the laptop ban. From today passengers with large electronic devices will now be placed in the hold, this includes Kindles.  The flights affected will be flights from Egypt and Turkey to the UK.

A spokesman from EasyJet said: “The safety and security of its passengers and crew is the airline’s highest priority.” Additional security checks will take place at the gate. Passengers are being advised to leave devices at home.

The British government announced the electronics ban Tuesday following the US due to an unspecified terrorist threat.  However, no official start date has been given by the government.

Devices that are larger than a typical smartphone will be banned.
