This is what happened
Commuters faced much disruption today after an engineering train came off the rails and blocked the Central Line.
The line was closed in both directions from Ealing Broadway and Marble Arch. Delays also hit the rest of the line which is used by more than 800,000 people a day.
The disruption lasted throughout peak hours.
Engineers were working on getting the train back on the track, once this is achieved, detailed safety checks then have to be carried out before passenger services are allowed to pass through.
Transport for London (TfL), advised passengers to use alternative routes with tickets being accepted on bus services and the local mainline rail.
TfL hasn’t been able to say when normal service will resume, the engineering train was being used for night maintenance work.
