Fresh footage shows the vast amount of damage to a Russian missile factory

Ukraine has struck a key Russian defence industry facility deep behind the front line, with fresh satellite imagery showing significant damage at the Titan-Barrikady military plant in Volgograd, according to reports by Skhemy (Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty).

Images captured by satellite company Vantor on July 1 appear to show heavy damage to at least two buildings at the site, which plays a role in producing launch systems, artillery equipment and components for some of Russia’s most advanced missile platforms.

The facility is linked to production supporting weapons including the Iskander-M, Yars and Topol-M missile systems — all central parts of Russia’s strategic and tactical strike capability.

The attack reportedly involved Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingo missiles, with footage circulating online appearing to show impacts on the industrial complex.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the strike, saying Ukraine’s Defence Forces had targeted the facility because of its role in producing equipment used in attacks against Ukrainian cities, RBC-Ukraine reported.

“This is a large industrial complex where the enemy produces artillery systems and special military equipment, including elements of missile launch systems used for strikes against our people,” Zelensky said.

He added that hits were recorded followed by a fire at the plant.

The Volgograd strike is part of a wider Ukrainian campaign aimed at weakening Russia’s ability to produce and maintain weapons systems.

Rather than focusing only on frontline positions, Kyiv has increasingly targeted the industrial network supporting Moscow’s war effort — including factories producing missiles, drones, electronics and military components.

The attack follows another strike on a Russian facility in Voronezh involved in producing microelectronics and components for missile systems.

Despite Russian officials claiming air defences had intercepted incoming threats, videos shared online showed explosions and smoke rising over the industrial site.

Russia’s defence industry has become a key focus of Ukraine’s long-range campaign as Kyiv attempts to reduce the flow of weapons reaching the battlefield.

The Titan-Barrikady plant is considered a strategically important enterprise because it supports the launch infrastructure required for Russia’s missile forces.

Damage to such facilities could create delays in production, maintenance and replacement of equipment at a time when Moscow continues to rely heavily on missile strikes against Ukraine.

The strike demonstrates the growing reach of Ukraine’s weapons capabilities, with Russian military-industrial targets increasingly vulnerable far from the front line.

For the Kremlin, the challenge is expanding: protecting battlefield positions is one task, but defending a vast network of factories and logistics hubs across Russia is another.

As Ukraine continues its long-range campaign, Russia’s defence industry is becoming a major battleground in the war of attrition.
