Ukrainian forces are striking hard at the Dnipropetrovsk-Zaporizhzhia junction. Russian troops are struggling to communicate. Starlink terminals are blocked. Telegram is jammed.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports localized, opportunistic counterattacks by Ukrainian troops. Their goal: restore communication between strongpoints and confuse Russian forces.

Geolocated video from February 12 shows Russian attacks east of the Haichur River — near Dobropillia and north of Varvarivka, northwest of Huliaipole.

At first, Russian milbloggers claimed Ukraine had launched a full counteroffensive. Later, they admitted the attacks are limited — but disruption is real.

Starlink restrictions and Telegram blocks have crippled Russian coordination on the front line, with a total command breakdown. Ukrainian forces are exploiting gaps in command and control.

“Russian milbloggers say the situation on the ground is unclear due to degraded communications,” ISW reported.

A NATO official told RBC-Russia, that Ukraine’s gains in eastern Zaporizhzhia are linked to SpaceX restricting Russian Starlink access in early February 2026.Russian troops are furious. Telegram — a frontline lifeline — is jammed. Soldiers warn it could destroy operations. Ukraine may score an unexpected win.

“The front is in shock. Starlinks are gone, now they’re jamming Telegram too. How are we supposed to fight? With carrier pigeons?” one soldier said.

“We need a tool like Telegram. Don’t slow it down, don’t block it. It allows us to exchange information quickly to intercept drones,” another said.

Russian units are frustrated. Command is faltering. Ukrainian troops are striking opportunistically. Moscow’s frontline is exposed — and Ukraine is pushing every advantage.

With Russian communications in chaos, analysts say Ukraine may continue limited strikes to exploit weaknesses, further undermining Russian operations in the east.
