On Monday a Banksy mural was seen on the wall of the Royal Courts of Justice depicts a protestor holding a blood-spattered placard and a judge wielding a gavel.

The Banksy artwork was covered up on Monday with sheets of black plastic and two metal barriers in front of the wall.

The Royal Courts of Justice reported the mural to the Metropolitan Police who are treating this as “criminal damage.”

The Met Police said in a statement, “On Monday September 8, officers received a report of criminal damage to the side of the Royal Courts of Justice. Inquiries continue.”

On a post on Instagram, Banksy confirmed that he did the artwork.

The court said that they are legally obliged to remove the Banksy artwork as the building has a listed status.
