Celebrities such as Stephen Fry and Ellen DeGeneres have revealed they are boycotting The Dorchester, one of London’s most famous five-star hotels.
The boycott began after owner of the luxury hotel, the Sultan of Brunei, introduced new laws which will allow the stoning of gay people and adulterers and the severing of limbs for theft. Another punishment is flogging for anyone who has had an abortion.
@moltomdad All places to avoid until the Brunei Sultan decides that stoning people for whatever reason is disgusting http://t.co/MAYLDjBt9s

In fact, it’s not just The Dorchester but the entire group, including Ascot’s Coworth Park and 45 Park Lane, in Mayfair. The Sultan also owns popular US hangouts the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Hotel Bel-Air plus others in France, Italy and Switzerland.
Gay rights groups have cancelled a number of functions at the hotels.
