Russian jets from Belarus deployed as explosions rock Kyiv on Christmas Day with ‘air raid alert across all Ukraine’

In the morning of Christmas Day “air raid sirens” went off “across of all Ukraine” as Vladimir Putin deployed jets from Belarus.

Explosions rocked Kyiv on Christmas Day as Russia continued with their air bombing campaign in Ukraine this morning.

Explosions were heard in Kyiv which were as a result of missiles being fired on the left bank of the river, according to local media reports.

An early warning aircraft IL-76 A-50U were seen taking off from airfields in Belarus along with Russian MiG-31S Foxhound which is a long range supersonic interceptor jet which carries long range Vympel R-33E air-to-air missiles.

The Russian Foxhound can also carry two Bisnovat R-40TD1 medium-range along with four short range R-60MK missiles.

Nolan Peterson, who is a former US Air Force special operations pilot and now war correspondent for Coffee or Die magazine, wrote on Twitter, “It’s Christmas morning — and there’s an air raid alert here in Kyiv and across all Ukraine.”

Air raid sirens were then heard again for the second time on Christmas Day and the alert ended without any damage.

On Christmas Eve Russian forces shelled the city of Kherson leaving 58 civilians wounded and seven were killed as a result of Grad multiple rocket launchers.

Kherson regional prosecutor’s office wrote, “Several people were hospitalized with serious injuries.

“Civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged, including residential buildings, administrative buildings and vehicles.”

Deputy Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko said, “The shelling of the center of Kherson with Grad MLRS.

“As of now, 58 wounded are known, of which 18 are severe, seven people died.”
