Ukrainian drones have struck an oil pumping station in western Russia, damaging storage tanks and triggering a large fire, according to a source in Ukraine’s security services (SBU).

The strike targeted the “Gorky” oil pumping station in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, reportedly causing significant damage to fuel storage infrastructure and disrupting oil transport routes linked to key domestic supply lines.

The source, speaking to the Kyiv Independent, said the operation was carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine’s Special Operations Centre “A”, adding that the attack was designed to disrupt

Separately, Russia’s Defence Ministry said more than 150 Ukrainian drones were launched overnight against targets across Russian territory and occupied Crimea, with residents reporting explosions in multiple regions.

The oil facility strike reportedly damaged three storage tanks, sparking a fire that spread across a wide area and affected infrastructure linked to major pipeline routes, including those supplying regional refineries.

Additional strikes were reported in occupied Crimea, including an oil depot in Feodosia and a substation in Melitopol, with local channels reporting repeated explosions and fires.

In southern Russia, officials in Samara Oblast said drones hit the cities of Samara and Novokuibyshevsk for a second consecutive night. One person was killed and two others injured after a drone reportedly struck a residential building.

Footage and eyewitness accounts described shattered windows, fires in apartment blocks and widespread damage, prompting evacuations and emergency response operations. Flight operations were also temporarily suspended at Kurumoch Airport during the attack.

Russian authorities said air defences intercepted multiple incoming drones, while Ukrainian officials have not commented in detail on the overnight strikes.

The Kyiv Independent said it could not independently verify all claims made by Russian officials or local reports.

The latest wave of strikes underscores the continued expansion of the conflict into deeper Russian territory, with energy infrastructure increasingly becoming a central target in the wider war.
