Reports about Kyiv’s readiness to manufacture nuclear weapons if the US stops providing assistance to it indicates President Volodymyr Zelensky is ready to turn Ukraine into “an atomic desert,” a Russian MP claims.
Sergey Mironov, leader of the A Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth party and faction in the State Duma claims that Zelensky is preserving “power and personal income.”
The Russian politician commented on a publication in The Times, which claimed that Kiev could rapidly develop a rudimentary weapon similar to that dropped on Nagasaki in 1945 to stop Russia if the US cuts military aid.

“This is real nuclear blackmail. And it is significant that the publication appeared in the British press, that is, in a country that has chosen the path of unrestrained escalation from the very beginning of the conflict.
“I would not be surprised if the UK, not only in words, but also in deeds, supports the creation of nuclear weapons or a dirty bomb in Ukraine to carry out a terrible provocation.
“Zelensky and his regime have a long record of both nuclear blackmail and terrorist attacks, and I have little doubt that he will take the most extreme measures if he is not stopped. For the sake of preserving power and personal income, Zelensky is ready to arrange a nuclear desert in Ukraine. And the radioactive cloud will cover half the world.
“Russia has all the capabilities for this, from special services to high-precision and strategic weapons. We will not tolerate the appearance of an aggressive terrorist state with nuclear weapons at our borders. Let me remind you that Zelensky’s plans to change the nuclear-free status of Ukraine became one of the reasons for Russia’s special military operation.
