The high street has been delivered another blow as Pizza Express are planning to close “around 75” restaurants out of the 470 sites affecting hundreds of jobs.

As part of a financial restructuring plan the restaurants will close amid the coronavirus pandemic, however the exact number of sites to close will be announced next week.

A source told Sky News the exact number of restaurants to close could be higher or lower than 75, but it is unlikely to more than 20%.

Next week Pizza Express start talks with landlords and are planning a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) which could help to cut their rent obligations.
