The Duke of Edinburgh, 99, has been admitted to hospital as a precautionary measure for “observation and rest,” Buckingham Palace said.
A royal source said that Prince Philip “does not have a coronavirus related illness,” and he walked unaided into hospital.
A palace spokesperson said, “His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in London, on Tuesday evening.
“The Duke’s admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’s Doctor, after feeling unwell.
“The Duke is expected to remain in hospital for a few days of observation and rest.”
Royal sources have confirmed Prince Philip’s hospitalisation was “not an emergency admission,” and he was taken by car to London from Windsor Castle without the need of an ambulance.
