Interest in Britain’s next prime minister has surged since Andy Burnham entered Downing Street, with bookmakers already pricing the prospect of his eventual successor.

Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage have dominated betting activity in August, accounting for a combined 75 per cent of wagers on the identity of the next prime minister.

The figures underline the rapid turnover of political expectations following Burnham’s arrival in No 10. Badenoch’s position reflects continued Conservative interest, while Farage’s share points to growing speculation over Reform UK’s prospects.

For now, Burnham has barely settled into office. But the betting markets are already looking beyond him.
