Yellow thunderstorm warning extended by Met Office

The Met Office has extended the yellow thunderstorm warning which comes after heavy rainfall overnight.

Tuesday will be warm and humid with showers which could be heavy and see thunderstorms on occasion.

Met Office spokesman Stephen Dixon said that there could be “uncomfortable driving condition” as southern and western parts of England could see as much as 30mm of rain.

The Met Office said, “An area of heavy rain and thunderstorms will move northeastwards during Tuesday morning.

“This will bring 10-20 mm in 1 hour to many places within the warning area but a smaller corridor of torrential rain giving 30-40 mm in 1-2 hours in places accompanied by frequent lightning and gusty winds.”
