Phones 4U has just been “forced” into administration, threatening 6,000 jobs as its 550 stores close today – despite the company having profits of more than £100m.
That’s left lots of customers who pre-ordered the iPhone 6 from Phones 4U last week wondering if they will still be able to get their new phone.
Phones 4U has said that it will cancel all orders that have not yet been dispatched, but a full refund will be given.
Of course, the iPhone 6 is not due for release in the UK until October, meaning no phones would have been dispatched yet.
That means it’s looking highly unlikely that you’ll get your iPhone 6 from Phones 4U as things stand, although you will get a full refund.
We have been unable to contact Phones 4U to confirm the news, but we’ll keep you posted if we get through to them.
Its customer service line is 0844 871 2253, although we have not yet been able to get through to the team.
UPDATE: 15 September, 11:20am
Huffington Post UK is reporting that Phones 4U has now confirmed that it will not be able to honour pre-orders of the iPhone 6.
That means all of you who have pre-ordered one from the company will get a full refund – and you need to look elsewhere if you want to get your iPhone 6 as soon as it’s available in the UK.
Oh, you didn’t hear? Apple just launched a load of new stuff.
