US to send Ukraine a further $275 in military aid including ‘nuclear protective equipment’

The US Department of Defence (DoD) has said they will provide Ukraine with an additional $275 million in aid for critical security and defence needs.

The US President Joe Biden is doing as much as he can before Donald Trump bees the new American President in January 2025, as it is believed Trump will cut all aid to Ukraine and end the war on his and Vladimir Putin’s terms.

President Biden is wanting to put Ukraine in the “strongest possible position” before Trump moves into the White House.

The Pentagon website reads, “As part of the surge in security assistance that President Biden announced on September 26 to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position, the Department of Defense (DoD) today announced additional security assistance to meet Ukraine’s critical security and defense needs.”

This will be the 70th tranche of military equipment the US has provided Ukraine s since August 2022 which is worth an estimated $275 million.

Ukraine will receive ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition, 60mm and 81mm mortar rounds, unmanned aerial systems.

The US will also send Ukraine, Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided (TOW) missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-armour systems, small arms and ammunition, demolitions equipment and munitions, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear protective equipment, along with spare parts, ancillary equipment, services, training, and transportation.

The Pentagon added, “The United States will continue to work together with some 50 Allies and partners through the Ukraine Defense Contact Group and its associated Capability Coalitions to meet Ukraine’s urgently needed battlefield requirements and defend against Russian aggression.”
