US to send deadly Patriot missile systems to Ukraine and Moscow warns of ‘possible consequences’ which will deepen the conflict

Washington has confirmed that they will be sending £1.5 billion in military aid which includes the deadly Patriot missile systems.

Ukraine will be provided with the state of the art Patriot missile battery and precision-guided bombs for their fighter jets which has angered Moscow.

The Patriot missile systems will bolster Ukraine’s air defences against Vladimir Putin’s barrage of cruise missile and rocket attacks.

This news comes as the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is due to meet with the US President Joe Biden in Washington which is believed to be his first international visit since the war started on 24 February 2022.

Moscow hit back on Wednesday morning over Zelensky’s visit to Washington and the Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that nothing good will come after the Ukrainian President’s trip to the US.

Peskov warned that the continued Western arms being supplied to Ukraine will lead to the “deepening” of the conflict.

The Kremlin’s spokesman told reporters, “The supply of weapons continues and the range of supplied weapons is expanding.

“All of this, of course, leads to an aggravation of the conflict. This does not bode well for Ukraine.”

Peskov was then asked if Zelensky’s visit to Washington will provide anything positive, he simply said, “No.”

Russia’s Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned that Washington could face “possible consequences” and the deployment of the Patriot missile systems to combat the Russian airstrikes will present an escalation with the US by them helping Kyiv.

Putin’s barking dog, Zakharova did not say exactly what Moscow’s response will be, if anything, but she did say that the US should “draw the right conclusions” that the military equipment being sent to Ukraine means that the US have “effectively become a party” to the war.

She also warned that Moscow will consider the sending of the deadly weaponry as a “provocative move” which could see a response from the Kremlin.
