Ryanair is set to face its biggest-ever one-day strike today with pilots based in five European countries set to walk out. Staff is holding a 24-hour walkout over pay and conditions.
Around 250 flights to and from Germany have been cancelled, along with 104 flights serving Belgium, 22 services to and from Sweden, and 20 between Ireland and Britain, according to reports.
A spokesman said that despite the walkouts, the majority of Ryanair’s scheduled flights would operate as normal.
He further told media: “Ryanair took every step to minimise the disruption and we notified our customers as early as possible advising them of their free move, refund or reroute options. The majority of customers have already been accommodated on another Ryanair flight. We want to again apologise to customers affected by this unnecessary disruption and we ask the striking unions to continue negotiations instead of calling anymore unjustified strikes.”
