Parts of the UK are to be hit by ex-Hurricane Lee and storm warnings are in place for the next 36 hours.

A tropical storm is battering parts of the UK as it moves in from the West bringing heavy rain which will lead to flooding in places and strong winds.

A yellow weather warning is in place until 6am on Wednesday morning and most of Wales, north west, western Scotland and England will be hit with strong downpours.

Two yellow weather warnings are in place and the Met Office has said they cover most of England, Wales and the north west of the country.

The Met Office has warned that winds and coastal gales will reach speeds of 60 mph and meteorologist Alex Burkhill said there will be persistent rain spreading from the west to the east.

Burkill said, “Perhaps the greatest chance of some bright spells across far northern parts of Scotland, but even here there will be a scattering of showers and still some strong winds, with coastal gales possible.”
