Vladimir Putin has said that it is “legally impossible” to reach any peace deal with Ukraine, which strongly indicates that he has no desire to end the war unless it is all on his terms and to the detriment of Kyiv.
Putin then choked out, well “of course” we “ultimately” want and agreement with Ukraine, but it is “practically impossible.”
The Russian dictator then threatened that the territories they annexed in 2022 “will remain” under their sovereignty, warning that any violations is considered “an attack on Russia.”
In 2024 Putin lowered the nuclear doctrine accusing the West of helping Ukraine with billions of dollars’ worth of military equipment and sharing battlefield intelligence.

In 2020 Vladimir Putin set the current nuclear doctrine which means if his red line of a conventional attack on Russian territory, a threat against the state or in the event of a nuclear attack Moscow will respond with nuclear weapons.
At the time the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the West has “gone too far” and Russia will protect their territory.
Putin told reporters on Thursday, “Of course, we ultimately want to reach an agreement with Ukraine, but right now, it is practically impossible. Legally impossible.
“Those who can, those who want to, let them conduct negotiations. We need our decisions to be internationally recognized by the main global players.”
Putin warned, “These are different things, so we, of course, need recognition, but not from Ukraine today. I hope that in the future we can reach an agreement with Ukraine.”
Speaking about the US and Europe’s peace plan Putin said, “Signing documents with the Ukrainian leadership is pointless. I have spoken on this issue many times.
“I believe the Ukrainian leadership made a fundamental strategic mistake by being afraid to hold a presidential election, after which the president lost his legitimate status.”
