The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine could reduce the spread of the virus, and the Health Secretary has hailed this as “absolutely superb.”

Matt Hancock said the data shows “vaccines are the way out of this pandemic,” and this is the first time a vaccine has been shown to reduce the transmission.

The results are yet to be formally published, but the data shows that the Oxford vaccine could have a “substantial” effect on the transmission, meaning the jab could have a greater impact on the pandemic.
