PayByPhone, the global leader in mobile parking payments, today announced that it will become the cashless parking provider across Transport for London’s (TfL) car parks, which are managed by NCP.

Drivers will be able to use PayByPhone’s services to pay for parking at any of TfL’s 80 station car parks, managed by NCP.

PayByPhone users can use the service without any parking transaction fees and can additionally choose to pay for text messages that remind them before a parking session expires. The PayByPhone app also allows customers to extend their parking sessions remotely, in accordance with the car parks’ terms and conditions, with the Extend-From-Anywhere feature. This feature is now also available to users with an Apple Watch using watchOS 4, allowing parking to be extended directly from the watch.

Jonny Combe, UK CEO of PayByPhone, said, “We are delighted to launch PayByPhone in the TfL car parks managed by NCP. After signing the agreement with NCP last year, this is another exciting stage in our partnership. Mobile parking payments have many advantages to drivers and to parking operators and helps make the parking experience more hassle-free.”

Jonathan Scott, CEO at NCP said, “At NCP, we are committed to offering our customers the best possible experience when parking with us, and a large part of this is giving them the choice to pay for their parking in a way that is convenient to them.

“PayByPhone offers just this, as well as a number of additional features to help improve the customer journey. The roll out of PayByPhone’s payment system across the car parks that we manage for TfL is the latest development in our long-term relationship with them, which will soon see PayByPhone’s technology available throughout our wider estate.

“What’s more, we look forward to working with both PayByPhone and its parent company Volkswagen Financial Services to continue innovating in the parking sector.”

In addition to the cashless payment and Extend-From-Anywhere benefits, PayByPhone users can now also use the recently-launched Maps and the Nearby Parking features. The Maps feature allows drivers to locate parking before they leave for their destination and pin their vehicle location onto the map once they have parked. The Nearby Parking feature instantly provides drivers with the closest PayByPhone parking location number once parked.

Drivers currently using Season Tickets and AutoPay will be able to continue using these features, as they will be available with PayByPhone too. The Season Tickets feature allows drivers to save money on the standard daily tariff, with monthly, quarterly and annual options available. The automatic payments feature monitors the exact entry and exit times from drivers, making sure they only pay for the exact time parked.

PayByPhone encourages drivers to download the app now, so they are ready to use the new service from the minute it goes live. Registration is very simple and takes less than 30 seconds, and users are able to take advantage of PayByPhone’s services in boroughs across London.
