Markets remain nervous as Iran threatens to attack US blue-chip companies

Iran’s notorious Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reportedly issued an unprecedented threat to attack some of the world’s biggest tech and industrial giants, including Google, Microsoft and Tesla, as the explosive Middle East conflict enters its second month.

In a message circulating on Telegram channels linked to Iranian state media and Guard‑affiliated outlets, the IRGC allegedly said it would begin targeting up to 18 multinational companies operating in the Middle East starting 8 pm Tehran time on Wednesday, April 1, unless certain conditions are met.

The warning — widely shared online — urged staff at the named companies and local residents near their offices to evacuate immediately due to the “high risk of imminent attacks.” Sources reporting on the message describe it as a retaliatory response to recent strikes against Iranian military leaders.

The IRGC said: “Warning to the invading American ruling establishment and its affiliated spy companies. You ignored our repeated warnings about the necessity of halting terrorist operations, and today, in terrorist attacks carried out by you and your Israeli allies, a number of Iranian citizens were martyred.

“Since the primary elements in designing and tracking assassination targets are American ICT and AI companies, in response to these terrorist operations, from now on the main institutions involved in terrorist activities will be our legitimate targets.

“We advise the staff of these institutions to immediately evacuate their workplace to protect their lives.

“Residents living near these terrorist organisations in all countries in the region should also evacuate within a one-kilometer radius of their location and move to a safe area. Companies that actively participate in terrorist designs will face retaliatory action for every assassination target.

While an official full list has not been independently verified by major news agencies, social media posts circulating today claim the IRGC named firms including:

  • Google
  • Microsoft
  • Tesla
  • Apple
  • Intel
  • Oracle
  • IBM
  • Dell
  • Nvidia
  • Boeing
  • JPMorgan and others

— describing them as being linked to “enemy operations” in the region.

Wall Street reacted anxiously to the news, leading to declines in major indexes as traders assessed the potential economic impact of global corporations’ offices and assets being involved in the conflict. Reports from MarketWatch indicate that the stocks of several technology and defence companies experienced significant drops during trading.

Foreign policy analysts caution that widening the conflict to involve private companies could lead to a perilous escalation with significant consequences. Officials have not yet confirmed whether any strikes on these companies’ facilities have occurred.

World leaders are watching anxiously as the crisis poses a threat not only to regional stability but also to global supply chains and technology infrastructure, including data centres and manufacturing hubs throughout the Gulf region.
