The Spanish capital are to declare a state of emergency after Madrid announced 1,063 new cases of coronavirus in just one day, totalling 2,078 cases.
Spanish health authorities published new figures on Friday and confirmed 4,209 total cases of coronavirus, with a death toll of 120.
Spain’s television news said a “state of alert” will be on e of the three stages of a state of emergency, which includes ordering evacuations and wide quarantining measures.
Spain’s TVE said Madrid are to close all restaurants, bars and shops over the coronavirus epidemic from Saturday. Only supermarkets and pharmacies will remain open.
The FCO has advised to avoid areas in Madrid, La Rioja and the municipalities of La Bastida, Vitoria and Miranda de Ebro.

The Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio also declared a state of emergency in the city over the deepening deadly coronavirus outbreak.
