The World Heath Organization (WHO) have warned that the mixing of fans travelling to host cities to watch Euro 2020 games has pushed up the number of infections by 10%.
Germany’s Interior Minister has criticised the Euro 2020 games as “utterly irresponsible” to have large crowds.
The Minister said that UEFA appear to be driven by commercial gain rather than health concerns as thousands of fans are flying to different countries and different matches during the Euro 2020 competition.
At the semi-finals and the final at Wembley Stadium around 60,000 fans will watch the match with many more thousands in the streets and bars with no social distancing.
The WHO have expressed real concern in allowing large crowds to mix and are worries over the lockdown easing of the countries who are hosting the games.
1,294 of those cases are linked to Scottish football fans who travelled to London on 18 June to watch Scotland v England.
397 Scottish fans who were at Wembley Stadium to watch the Scotland game tested positive for coronavirus.
