Commuters face delays at Clapham Junction after person hit by a train

London Air Ambulance was called into Clapham Junction on Wednesday morning after a person was killed after being hit by a train, paramedics pronounced the person dead at the scene.

The Gatwick Express said, “It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport.

“All lines are blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this tragedy.”

Southern Rail has said, “No trains between London Victoria and East Croydon expected until 12:00.”

“A person has been hit by a train between London Victoria and East Croydon. As a result of this, trains are currently unable to run between these stations and will be cancelled or delayed. This is expected until 12:00.”

A British Transport Police spokesperson said, “Officers are now working to identify them and inform their family.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
