The shopping centre was packed with shoppers and police swooped in on the man in East London, arresting him for assaulting a police officer and obstructing a search under the Terrorism Act.
The shopping centre was evacuated and the area was cordoned for around two hours.
A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said that “A bag that he had with him has been left at the scene and will be assessed by specialist officers.”

It is not thought today’s incident is related to the suicide bombing in Manchester on Monday.
