Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov has stressed the need liberate Crimea to ensure complete security and freedom of navigation in the Black and Azov Seas.
Ukraine’s security chief Oleksiy Danilov has sent a clear and present danger message to Vladimir Putin that “Crimea is the territory of Ukraine” and “We will test and use there any weapons not prohibited by international laws, that will help liberate our territories.”
Exactly what weapons Kyiv are referring to is unknown at this time, but it is clear this is not a threat but a statement they will use weapons which will most likely borderline potentially prohibited materials.
Reznikov said, “To ensure 100% security and freedom of navigation in the Black and Azov Seas, Crimea must be liberated. And it will be liberated.

“Crimea will return to the Ukrainian family, as it was in 1991. Crimea is Ukraine.”
The minister made reference of the importance of freedom of navigation in the Black and Azov Seas, which provides “food security” for the world.
Russian forces are preparing for the Ukrainian counteroffensive to take back Crimea and have units along an 800 mile front and have defensive position ready.
Andriy Zagorodnyuk, who served as Ukraine‘s defense minister from 2019 to 2020 and is now an adviser to Zelensky’s government, told Newsweek, “Of course, the Russians are trying to fortify but I don’t think it will work, simply because it’s not the early 20th century and physical fortifications cannot guarantee that a force will be able to keep a position.
“They will be attacked in from the air with missile strikes, airstrikes, and so on.”
He added, “I wouldn’t expect fortifications to be like decisive in this case,” Zagorodnyuk, but it is “too early” to say when Ukrainian troops might be able to liberate Crimea.
Last month, the Kremlin-appointed head of occupied Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said, construction is taking place with an “unconventional” and “asymmetrical” approach due to “experience with armed hostilities.”
Aksyonov said, “Better safe than sorry and I always say, if you want peace, prepare for war.
“So, it’s better for us to be ready. Crimeans and all other Russians can sleep soundly in this regard.”
He added, “They have to soften the physical properties of the defenses.”
