Donald Trump is the 4/9 favourite to win the Republican nomination with Ron DeSantis his closest challenger at 9/1. After that, Tim Scott is 30/1 and Nikki Haley is 40/1.

Despite Trump appearing in court on Thursday over events that followed the 2020 vote, his chances of winning the nomination have steadily improved in recent months having been 4/7 in May.

Like Trump, Biden appears to have the Democrat nomination sewn up, according to the odds. He’s 2/5 to have his name on the Presidential election ballot paper and run for a second term.

Biden is the slight 15/8 favourite to win the election in 2024, with Trump following at 12/5.

Betfair Exchange spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said, “Donald Trump remains on course to win the Republican nomination despite his latest court appearance taking place on Thursday, according to the odds.

Trump is the clear 4/9 favourite to bag the Republican vote, with Ron DeSantis his closest challenger at a lengthy 9/1 followed by 30/1 shot Tim Scott and Nikki Haley at 40/1 – suggesting there are no strong opponents to Trump’s attempt to be on the ballot three elections in a row.

“Trump will likely face Joe Biden – 2/5 favourite to win the Democrat nomination – in a 2020 rematch and the odds have the incumbent President as the 15/8 favourite with Trump trailing at 12/5.”
