Multibillionaire Rupert Murdoch has lashed out at “posh boys in Downing Street” for giving Google leeway for its tax arrangements.
In a series of tweets, Murdoch ridiculed Google’s £130m deal with HMRC that covers corporation tax claims for 10 years.
He accused the tech giant of “paying token amounts for PR purposes”.
At prime minister’s questions, David Cameron took a dig at Labour saying it was better for the government to accept £130m than nothing collected under Labour.
“We’re talking about tax that should have been collected under a Labour government, raised by a Conservative government,” he said.
“No government has done more than this one to crack down on tax evasion and aggressive tax avoidance. No government, and certainly not the last Labour government.”
Take a look at Murdoch’s tweets:
Google has cleverly planted dozens of their people in White House, Downing St, other governments. Most brilliant new lobbying effort yet.

Google et al broke no tax laws. Now paying token amounts for p r purposes. Won’t work. Need strong new laws to pay like the rest of us.

Global tech companies making enormous profits most places, funnelling $$ thru tax havens. Unless stopped will ruin local businesses who pay.
