Portugal confirms first cases as coronavirus spreads across western Europe

Two people have been infected with coronavirus in Portugal, which was the only country in western Europe that had been free of the virus.

Both patients were diagnosed after being presented at a hospital in Porto, one is a doctor who had been on holiday in northern Italy and the second patient was on holiday in Spain.

Globally there are now 80,071 across 53 countries out of 195, and the death toll has now reached 3,044.

On Sunday the Louvre in Paris closed their doors as staff at the world famous art gallery raised concerns of catching coronavirus.

The art gallery in Paris attracts tourists from all over the world and the 2,300 staff have said โ€œits only a question of timeโ€ before a worker gets infected.
