A NATO airbase in Germany has “raised the security level” as intelligence reports there is a “potential threat” and all non-mission essential staff has been sent home as “precautionary measure.”
The NATO airbase at Geilenkirchen raised the security to the second-highest level as some form of terrorist activity is “highly likely.”

The airbase is home to the AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) or surveillance aircraft.
The airbase said on X, “We raised the security level at NATO Airbase Geilenkirchen based on intelligence information indicating potential threat.”
NATO AWACS added on X, “All non-mission essential staff have been sent home as a precautionary measure.
“The safety of our staff is our top priority. Operations continue as planned.”
