Footage shows that in the heat of battle Russia has “destroyed” a “British Challenger 2 tank” being used by Ukrainian forces.

The Ukrainian 82nd Brigade who crossed the border into mainland Russia on 6 August are using the British made tanks as part of their offensive in the Kursk Oblast region.

Pro-Vladimir Putin war reporters have said that this is the first time a British tank has been “destroyed” whilst in combat inside Russia.

Footage shows the moment that whilst the Challenger 2 tank is operating in combat there is an explosion, after it was hit by a Russian Lancet-3 kamikaze drone, Welders posted on Telegram.

Sky News reported earlier on Thursday morning that a source suggested that British Challenger 2 tanks donated by the UK have been deployed in the Kursk region.

Voenniy Osvedomitel Telegram reports, “You can notice the characteristic detonation of propellant charges, which in the Challenger, unlike other modern tanks of the Western tank design school, are openly located on the floor of the fighting compartment.”

The Welders wrote on Telegram, “Our technically savvy operator jewelled the Lancet-3 into the upper hemisphere with a dive of the upper hull armour plate.”

Operatsia Z – Voenkory Russkoy Vesny reported: “After a precision strike, the British tank’s ammunition detonated, completely destroying it….

“This is the first time that the Challenger 2 in service with the AFU has been destroyed by a UAV on our front.

“The power of the Lancet has been proven, and the enemy has suffered serious losses.”

It is important to note that this has not been verified independently.

Last September a British Challenger 2 main battle tank was “destroyed” for the “first time in history” after being blown up in Ukraine in the hot zone of Robotyne on the 600-mile frontline.

The British trained 82nd and 46th Ukrainian brigades were believed to have been fighting on the front in Robotyne in September last year equipped with the Challenger 2 tanks.

A video has now emerged showing a Challenger 2 destroyed and burning with thick black smoke billowing from it and it is not known if the crew survived.
